A few words about Temerin

Temerin is one of the 12 communities of Southern Backa district.The distance from the Croatian border is approximately 60 km, from the Hungarian border to the North is arround 80 km, from the East the Romanian border is 80 km away, and Macedonia is 430 km away to the South.

The community has three settlements and covers 191 km2 . According to the register from 1991, there are 24.901 inhibitants in Temerin. 53.42% of the population is Serbian, 38.79% Hungarian, and the members of other ethnical groups do not exceed 7.79%.
Beside agriculture the population engages in other forms of production. In Temerin there is arround 780 small companies and shops, and approximately150 companies and institutions. Important types of production are metal working, construction work, textile industry, ...
Temerin has 34 corporations of citizens, and 19 sport clubs.
There is a thermal spring in Temerin which contains iodine, the water is recomanded for helping to cure rheumatism. The medicinal water may be used during the summer in open pools, and during the whole year in a spa.Temerin has it's own local radio station for 31 years, which broadcasts in two languages, Serbian and Hungarian, at AM-1044 KHz and FM- 39.5 MHz.
About the local papers, there is an edition in hungarian language called "Temerini Ujsag" with a long tradition.
